Unquantified Self 2023
Dec 28, 2023
I’ve tracked far more things in the past. This year I let many app subscriptions lapse and didn’t keep many qantified-self habits running. I returned to work travel this summer, which in addition to some personal travel saw me taking 13 trips by plane. I left the US twice and did several rental-car road trips to combine work trips with family visits. Starting in April 2023, I used HomeAssistant, a bit of Python, and Elasticsearch to log things like home temperature sensors and my location via the HomeAssistant app on my phone. It’s not as pretty as full quantified-self visualizations of past years. It’s easy to see when my sensor collection script went down in August in the temperature charts.

Three zigbee temperature sensors and my Nest thermostat. My basement runs 10 to 15 degrees colder than my office all year round.
